Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Logan Center Marketing and Communications manages and executes marketing and communications efforts at the Logan Center by planning, scheduling, writing, editing, and disseminating print and electronic marketing materials; overseeing email communications, managing multi-media vendors; and evaluating marketing and communications efforts of programs and initiatives of the Logan Center. They will work closely with the Associate Director of Communications for UChicago Arts and the Logan Center to streamline marketing efforts between the UChicago Arts patron databases, public event calendars, and social media platforms. This position works with staff of the Logan Center, often aligning with other UChicago Arts initiatives and departments, to build and engage on- and off-campus audiences through social media, digital communications, marketing materials, and outreach initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications for UChicago Arts and the Logan Center, the Assistant Director will oversee the part-time Social Media and Content Specialist and student interns.

Responsibilities:

Lead marketing and communications efforts for Logan Center programs and events. Develop and implement marketing and outreach plans for Logan Center programs and events. Advise and oversee public relations efforts, media planning, and materials development for Logan Center programs and events

Project and production management. Oversee design and production of print and digital materials working with student intern and freelance designers. Discharge copywriting and editing duties for collateral materials as well as digital and print advertising.

Manage email marketing campaigns. Maintain patron database and email list organization (including audience and press lists), including identification and segmentation for various email campaigns. Manage email marketing campaigns, in partnership with Logan Center programming staff.

Coordinate UChicago Arts content strategy. Work with the Associate Director to implement marketing and communications tactics, where appropriate, for UChicago Arts events and programs. Work with Associate Director and Social Media and Content Specialist to develop editorial calendars and create content focused on UChicago Arts.

Serve as a member of the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts/UChicago Arts staff and assist with various programs and projects, and other duties as assigned.

Additional Information: Education, Experience, and Certifications:

Education:

Bachelor s degree required. Master s degree in arts, design, marketing, communications, or related field preferred.

Experience:

3-5 years of experience working in marketing and/or communications required. 3 years of experience in building audience for the arts and/or university campus programs preferred.

Experience writing content for print materials, social media, and web required. Content strategy development experience highly valued.

Relevant experience with social media platforms, including basic analytics and strategy for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube (other platforms may be included) required. Knowledge of best social media practices, live event integration, and audience engagement valued though not required.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, website content management systems, and simple HTML highly valued though not required.

Strong knowledge of email distribution software (such as Constant Contact, Emma, or MailChimp) required.

Exceptional written and spoken communications skills required. Copywriting, editing, and social media experience highly valued. Design experience a plus.

General knowledge of consumer marketing strategy, branding, search engine optimization, pay-per-click advertising, social media, and email campaign strategies preferred.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion required.

Strong organizational, planning, problem solving and project management skills required.

Ability to take initiative, work independently and contribute as a member of a team required.

Ability to manage conflict with grace and tact and to propose creative, win-win solutions required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

The temperament to work with a diverse and demanding population is expected.

Must be self-directed and self-motivated, able to set goals and develop projects.

Clear, effective, and tactful oral and written communication skills; ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Ability to manage a workload, prioritizing and executing multiple tasks simultaneously with an ability to view a project in its entirety.

Considerable office work including ability to sit and use computers for 6 to 8 hours.

Occasional pushing and lifting of chairs and tables to set up events. Some light lifting (10- to 50lbs) is required.

Ability to travel to various campus locations.
