development of the system’s strategic internal communications and media
relations strategy.  Develops system-wide
internal communication priorities in support of senior management and KYOne
mission and business objectives.  Oversees
the day-day activities of the communications team as it applies to
communications related services and counsel to the system service lines and
other system organizations. Plans, coordinates, produces and evaluates
communication strategy plans and other services in support of internal client
objectives. The director will lead a group to ensure that the needs of the
communications plan are achieved.Essential Functions

·      
Planning and
Organizing:  This position must
plan and organize all activities under his or her control in an effective
manner. This includes preparing departmental tactical and strategic
communications plans as well as designing appropriate organizational structures
for areas of responsibility. This responsibility also includes organizing and
delegating work in an effective manner for establishing appropriate timeframes
for completion of work and for providing the necessary leadership to ensure
effective work results.

Communications
Direction:  Lead a team of
communication professionals to develop communication plans in support key
messaging to internal audiences including senior leaders, board members,
employees and physicians. Recommend appropriate communication vehicles and
methodologies to reach target audiences and meet objectives.

·        Communication Plan Development:  Determine the best method of creating
communications tools to reach the target audience. In addition, understand the
needs of consumers and the current business environment so that targeted
audiences can be reached effectively.

·        Media Relations:  Serves as the primary spokesperson for the
organization. Develops and maintains strong relationships with reporters and
media outlets in all markets. Develops and implements proactive media relations
strategy, and partners with vice president on crisis communication and reactive
media relations.

·        Managing and Leading People:  This position
selects, develops and counsels the function’s employee staff consistent with
good human resources management practices and creates a work environment that
encourages and allows participation to promote retention, productivity,
employee safety and a high-quality, customer-oriented employee staff. The
incumbent plans and conducts staff meetings ensuring needs are anticipated and
implementation of department tactics are discussed and implementation planned.     Communication:  The
incumbent is responsible for ensuring excellent open communications within the
department. This includes regular staff meetings, preparation and distribution
of minutes and other means to keep the department informed on a timely basis. The
incumbent will communicate effectively with the manager, other members of the
system management team, employees and outside customers.



','!*!Bachelor’s degree in communications or related
field. Seven years of experience working in the communications field, including
at a management level, with five years of experience supervising communications
specialists. Strong account management skills to manage the needs of the
service lines. Ability to write communication business plans and tactical
plans. Ability to work in a team environment and offer constructive feedback
and direction to support team goals. Other qualifications include strong understanding of the role and daily operation
of agencies and other vendors and strong knowledge of the interactive mediums
of communication.
