Job Description
Communications Director
The Communications Director will effectively relay messaging through the crafting of various types of communications and interacting with the press and specialized reporters. The Communications Director develops and executes integrated communications strategies to educate members, peer groups, government officials, and other member stakeholders related to the energy industry and public policy activities. Main responsibilities include writing speeches, articles, and other communications tools for leadership and implementing media relations strategy. RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Writes speeches, talking points, presentations, op-ed articles, and other content for executive leadership
* Crafts official responses to queries, arranges interviews, and writing press releases/articles/blogs
* Oversees various aspects of website content creation and updates
* Develops complementary communications tools, including messaging toolkits,
* Works closely with Executive Leadership
* Manages day-to-day activities of team member(s), as well as activities of freelancers and other vendors related to communications projects
* Maintains qualitative, quantitative, and timely content acquisition, coordination, development, and editing
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing requirements
* Demonstrates idea generation and implementation
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
* 8 years? experience in Communications, preferably in energy sector or related industry
* Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills
* Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills
* Must have media relations experience
* Supervisory or leadership experience desired
* Must be able to multitask and respond to changing priorities
