S&P Dow Jones Indices, an S&P Global division, is seeking an experienced Communications Manager who can lead and implement a top-notch integrated external and internal communications program for the Americas.
As part of a highly successful and dynamic global organization that oversees two of the global financial market’s most revered and iconic benchmarks – the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average – the Communications Manager must have a solid knowledge of the financial media landscape, build strong and trusted relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including journalists, and experience in executing an innovative and forward-thinking integrated global communications plan.
The Communications Manager will report to S&P Dow Jones Indices’ New York-based Global Head of Communications and will be a critical member of S&P Global’s enterprise-wide Corporate Communications and Purpose teams.
The successful candidate must be collaborative, demonstrate intellectual rigor and curiosity, be a strong writer, effective storyteller, and creative thinker. This individual will guide, advice and work with a diverse group of internal S&P Dow Jones Indices and S&P Global stakeholders to develop compelling and newsworthy content and promote thought leadership.
This individual will work closely with other S&P Global Communications managers and partners as well as senior leaders in key functions within the index division including Commercial, Marketing, Product Management, R&D, Legal and Compliance.
The Communications Manager will support S&P Dow Jones Indices’ Head of Communications in proactively identifying and addressing challenges facing the index organization and working closely with the broader Corporate Communications team and senior leaders to ensure the clarity, accuracy, relevance, timeliness, and consistency of information delivered across multiple internal and external communications channels.
Executing and managing an integrated communications program for the Americas that is aligned with S&P Dow Jones Indices’ global business goals.
Strengthening long-term relationships with journalists and other external stakeholders.
Educating the media and other market participants on the unique characteristics of S&P Dow Jones Indices’ business and the value of independent and transparent market benchmarks.
Providing strategic and sound advice to S&P Dow Jones Indices’ Head of Communications and other senior leaders while working collaboratively with various functions across the index division and the S&P Global organization.
Identifying and escalating potential challenges, issues and barriers to communications effectiveness and using influence, diplomacy, critical-thinking and creative problem-solving to address them.
Collaborating with senior leaders to develop strategic communications campaigns on product launches, partnerships, events, etc.
Providing thoughtful communications insights that enables S&P Dow Jones Indices’ senior leaders to be timely, relevant, and transparent.
Demonstrating accountability in reporting success metrics and milestones to senior leaders and the business while escalating potential challenges and roadblocks in a timely manner.
What We’re Looking For
Seven to ten years of relevant experience in Communications or related fields (preferably in financial services), e.g. In-house or PR agency or Journalism or a combination
University degree with a strong emphasis in Communications or Public Relations or Media Studies or Journalism or related fields
Media savvy and a solid understanding of a rapidly evolving and highly competitive media landscape
Exceptional communications and presentation skills
Strong relationship-building and networking skills
Strong eye for detail, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational, time and project management experience
Proven track record in developing and executing strategic communications and media campaigns
Corporate reputation and issues management experience
Experience in collaborating and providing strategic advice to senior and C-level executives
Spanish and Portuguese language skills are a plus but not required
Role requires limited travel (5-10% domestic and international)
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $79,600 to $143,800. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
