Job Summary JOB OVERVIEW The Manager of Marketing & Communications is responsible for the design and implementation of internal communications for the Office of Diversity and Outreach (ODO), which serves the entire UCSF campus. The Manager works collaboratively with central campus offices, respective functional owners, and partner offices to successfully launch ODO internal communication initiatives and broadcast them to the larger UCSF community. These responsibilities include a wide variety of communications and social media, including written, visual, and electronic, and associated technical applications. The Manager works with management to develop and execute organizational communication strategy for highly visible initiatives with multiple stakeholders. The Manager of Marketing & Communications also serves as a key member of ODO supporting the department\u2019s diversity and outreach events, programs and activities. The Manager will work with ODO staff and stakeholders to independently coordinate and oversee a wide range of highly visible campus events. The Manager liaises and collaborates with UCSF University Relations on issues related to external communications (Media, ucsf.edu, Social Media, Branding) and communications directors of professional schools and other campus units, including Development and Alumni Relations to ensure appropriate and consistent communications about ODO. Required Qualifications \u2022 Bachelor's degree in related area with a major in a related field and five years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Marketing, communications, and\/or publicity) \u2022 Expert knowledge and understanding of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications \u2022 Expert knowledge and understanding of technical applications to direct professional technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications \u2022 Highly developed skills to create, develop, and implement long and short term strategic communication plans \u2022 Highly developed skills to advise and consult management on all aspects of communications, ranging from developing effective communication strategies to appropriately responding to inquiries regarding sensitive or complex issues or information \u2022 Advanced skills to advise and consult management on all aspects of communications, ranging from developing effective communication strategies to appropriately respond to inquiries regarding sensitive or complex issues and information \u2022 Experience in website development and\/or design and Knowledge of trends in social media marketing \u2022 Experience working on diversity and\/or outreach related events and communications \u2022 Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills \u2022 Excellent analytical, critical thinking, project management, and problem recognition, avoidance, and resolution skills \u2022 Project Management: ability to develop and maintain production methodologies, processes and approval\/decision making protocols for print and media projects to ensure efficiency and accuracy of final products \u2022 Ability to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends \u2022 Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment Note: Fingerprinting and background check required.
