The Data and Visual Content Manager is responsible for managing the production of the text and research component of visual content for branded projects. The ideal candidate will be a creative, proactive achiever with a strong ability to work intensely and efficiently with external partners and freelancers. This person must have a passion for the content marketing and editorial process, while having experience conceptualizing and executing research and data for visual content.
Responsibilities:
Work with a driven and highly motivated team to support content creation production and delivery of content to off-network partner sites.
Create and implement clean, contemporary outlines and spines for visual content.
Maintain branding through research, documentation in every editorial effort.
Write and edit a variety of visual formats, including infographics, decision trees, checklists and other interactive-visual content and collateral.
Collaborate and work closely with various internal departments, including but not limited to designers, editors, creative directors, product managers, and account teams to develop, produce, package and deliver content.
Conceptualize broad concepts and offer strategic, smart and elegant solutions.
Create guidelines, define editorial direction, source and manage qualified writers and editors, oversee visual research content production and perform other duties to support successful creation of high-quality visual content for partners.
Help establish quality of content through various initiatives in place
Research a broad range of subjects to create specialized content requirements in niche verticals
Support Sr. Content Manager in managing other freelance researchers and writers including correspondence, editorial direction, critical feedback and paperwork.
Work directly with third-party partners and Content Solutions team to help establish voice, style and editorial guidelines to support creation of quality content in line with partner goals
Give and solicit feedback as part of the editorial process to other freelancers and the larger in-house team.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications or related field preferred; minimum of 4 years journalism or content marketing experience (online, print or broadcast)
A strong writing and editing background; familiarity with the AP Style guide; at least two years experience with editorial calendars and online programming preferred
Proven experience working at an advertising agency, top brand or publisher.
Expert in brand direction, data visualization and information design
Ability to work on deadline within constraints, while maintaining consistency
Comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Experience identifying and managing freelance designers and data researchers.
Must love new ideas, data storytelling, thinking outside the box, working across platforms and collaborating.
A demonstrated ability to work with and analyze big datasets is a plus.
Must understand the role visual storytelling plays in content marketing
