This is an
exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Marketing Communications Director for On Highway
will happen in these and other ways:This position will lead the On Highway strategic, integrated marketing plan creation and execution in conjunction with the business segment leaders and internal stakeholders to achieve the business objectives, elevate our global brand, align messaging, and prioritize for profitability.
Plans marketing communications and sales promotion materials to meet market strategies, product plans, and sales objectives.Directs the development and execution of internal and external marketing communications including press releases, video, newsletters, sales presentations, brochures, web sites and other digital media, and advertising.Develops unified messages, frequently asked questions, and message triangles for any business unit, product, or service need.Works across business units in cross-selling and marketing initiatives.Represents Cummins messaging externally to customers and the media.Understands product line, competitive positioning, and working to differentiate Cummins and its products in a positive manner.Develops and manages channel or sales programs.Develops and executes short- and long-term communication strategies.Collaborates with product management, sales management, and external suppliers to develop integrated communication strategies.Consults with business leadership to establish brand communication strategies and ensure communication, planning, and monitoring is effectively meeting the needs of customers.Directs brand communication research, develops and directs the implementation of the brand strategy and guidelines.Drives continuous process improvement and champions continuous process improvement initiatives; establishes and monitors key performance metrics.Develops and manages budget, financial controls, and risk ensuring operations are executed efficiently and within established budgets.Recruits, develops, leads, and motivates staff; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.Broad business understanding is required.Proactively align and
support ABO Marketing Communications initiatives as required.Demonstration of
leveraging and developing talent across organizations.Translate business needs
and messaging to our creative marketing partner to achieve successful
promotions across trade media and other channels.','!*!Develop And Execute Promotion Plans - Able to formulate strategies and provide guidance to others to develop promotional strategies to sell products and ideas. Recognizes effective initiatives and identifies features key to each market.Product Knowledge - Knowledge of products and product lines. Able to represent the features and benefits to sell the products. Able to recognize customer needs and suggest product applications to solve problems and create benefits for the customer. Able to teach others to formulate effective messages and represent the features and benefits of the product.Develop Communication Plans - Knows current communication methods along with alternative methods not currently being utilized. Understands the audience and how to utilize the most effective communication method to reach audience. Formulates an overall communication strategy (plan) and leads the implementation of it. Coaches or trains others on developing a communication plan.Message Creation - Leads the creation of a message triangle. Leads a cross-functional group in creating and communicating the message triangle. Provides guidance to other areas concerning the creation of message triangles. Teaches people how to create a message triangle and the importance of it.Electronic Media Strategy / Management - Knows the process. Approves copy and layouts for production. Talks to IT systems people regarding web applications and HTML coding.Public Relations - Has experience with representing the organization to external sources. Establishes and maintains working relationships with external sources. Able to convey the appropriate message to the appropriate audience using the most viable method. Drafts speeches for company executives and arranges interviews.Brand Management - Establishes the brand standards. Is the overall driver of any brand efforts. Teaches others about managing the brand.
Education, Licenses, CertificationsCollege, university, or equivalent degree in Marketing, Sales, Business Administration, Communications or related subject required.Compensation and BenefitsBase annual
salary commensurate with experience plus annual variable compensation.
