Job DescriptionReporting to the Senior Coordinator of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, the Corporate Communications & Supplier Communications Sr. Analyst is responsible for developing and executing WFM’s reputation management program tied to small/local suppliers, quality standards, sustainability, and the company’s three foundations. Responsible for leading supplier communications in partnership with the Merchandising team.Plays a key role in supporting overall corporate communications efforts, including media relations and PR strategy and support for new store openings.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Senior Coordinator and Coordinators on prominent corporate reputation initiatives and development of toolkit/SOPs for new store openings.
Generate new story ideas and media opportunities to tell local/small supplier stories and highlight positive supplier relationships in partnership with the Merchandising team.
Craft supplier communications and announcements, including messaging and materials, in partnership with perishable and non-perishable teams.
Identify, vet, and coordinate high-profile speaking engagements for senior leaders to enhance our reputation in priority areas, including small/local suppliers, quality standards, sustainability, and community impact.
Coordinate media interviews and speaking engagements for senior leaders; develop briefing materials and staff interviews/appearances.
Support Coordinator on communications and issues management tied to quality standards, sustainability, and the WFM’s three foundations: Whole Planet, Whole Kids and Whole Cities.
Support overall corporate communications and reputation management efforts, liaising with consumer PR team on media events and opportunities where appropriate.
Assist Coordinator with select Amazon integration efforts, including Prime Now delivery and pickup, Prime benefits, price investments, and new concepts.
Develop and maintain corporate messaging and other materials, ensuring consistency and tone.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with industry trade and business journalists; support proactive and reactive media relations efforts for the team.
Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Merchandising, and other departments.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR, marketing communications, marketing, or a related field.
4-7 years of relevant in-house or agency PR experience, retail experience is a plus.
Outstanding communication and writing skills, presents clear and compelling arguments, demonstrates sound judgment, impeccable follow through, able to see big picture and immediate business needs simultaneously.
Collaborative and highly motivated with a proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-moving environment; high ethical standards and integrity; ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations.
Comprehensive understanding of the overarching mission of the company and how it relates to all decisions made. Knowledge of store-level operations and communication procedures is preferred.
Sound project management skills with the ability to manage multiple missions in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing effectiveness with efficiency.
Strategic mindset, but must be able to execute at a tactical level; ability to react quickly and work against tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, to interact with a range of people at various levels.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; team player; welcomes feedback; inquisitive nature.
Previous experience developing media strategy, pitching, managing press events and executing PR campaigns.
