Position summary

We are looking for an experienced internal communications manager to join our Global Knowledge Services (KS) team to develop and execute internal marketing and communications campaigns in support of the KS global engagement and adoption strategy.

Work you'll do:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, KS Awareness and Promotion, the role will be responsible for executing against our internal communications strategies and plans. This may include the following activities:

Manages and executes a multifaceted, integrated communications plan focused on driving usage of and contribution to Deloitte's knowledge offerings.

Ensures high quality and consistent messaging is successfully deployed across internal channels in accordance with business and country-specific guidelines.

Excels at storytelling; writes high quality, compelling communications across mediums, e.g., news articles, email promotions, video storyboards, presentations, feature headlines, newsletters, testimonials, case studies, posters, event materials, social media posts, etc. Develops targeted, audience-specific versions of communications as required. \

Enhances existing materials with expert editorial skills.

Collaborates with off-shore Creative Services team members to co-develop influential and effective promotional assets.

Develops qualitative user surveys and contributes to analysis of results.

Networks and builds relationships with other internal communications professionals across businesses, industries, countries, and other enabling areas to increase the reach of KS priority messaging.

Proactively identifies and maximizes new and different internal communications channels.

Actively partners with KS Metrics & KPIs team to understand effectiveness of communications tactics. Adapts plans and tactics based on data-driven insights to refine and continually improve approaches.

Ensures compliance with legal and brand standards for communications, as appropriate.

Collaborates with off-shore colleagues, internal service providers, and external vendors supporting KS projects; manages project delivery as required.

Coaches colleagues on internal communications best practices and processes.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced virtual environment. Critical skills include: outstanding writing and editing; creative thinking and brainstorming; resourcefulness and problem solving; and adaptability and openness to feedback.

Years of Experience:

Candidate must have 5-7 years of relevant experience; experience in an internal communications role in a global professional services organization preferred.

Technical Skills

Advanced skills working with Microsoft Office applications; mastery-level skills for Power Point and Word.

Advanced survey writing/development skills.

Experience with electronic knowledge, repository management, intranets/portals, collaborative and social media tools; SharePoint experience a plus.

Other Qualifications

Outstanding writing, storytelling, and editing skills are required. Ability to swiftly develop succinct, high quality messaging for use across diverse internal communications channels is critical. Writing samples will be requested in advance; a writing and editing test will be part of the interview process.

Advanced understanding of marketing and communications KPIs; strong experience in deriving and applying actionable insights from quantitative and qualitative metrics.

Experienced, independent thinker with proven communications project management experience; ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and stakeholders and deliver results.

Highly responsive with demonstrated ability to take initiative and interact with all levels of management.

Strong verbal communication skills.

Exceptional relationship building/relationship management skills to establish rapport, build trust and confidence, and manage customer expectations.

Collaborative, team player.

High comfort level working, managing resources, and collaborating in a virtual, global environment.

Ability to deal with ambiguity and adapt to change; experience managing change, acting as a change agent to influence others.

Location preference is Chicago but will consider candidates in US, Canada and UK where there is an existing population of Deloitte Knowledge Service professionals.

Education and experience:

Bachelor's degree required; relevant areas of study may include Communications, Marketing, English, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields.


Knowledge and understanding of the Deloitte Global communication, language style and brand would be an asset
