**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is looking for a new Communications Director. This position reports directly to the Councilmember and her Chief of Staff.
This position provides communication support to the Councilmember that includes crafting press releases, speeches, op-eds, public recognitions and correspondence along with interdepartmental communications. This position also serves as the transportation policy lead for the Office, which includes tracking, amending and crafting legislation and tracking various committees. This position is based in Seattle and will require travel flexibility around King County for day and occasional night meetings.
Create press releases, op-eds and other large distribution correspondence.
Develop and implement a social media plan for the Councilmember.
Track ordinances and brief the Councilmember in a timely manner.
Generate responses to constituents as needed.
Handle a multi-line phone system.
Handle constituent requests and interact with the public.
Other duties as assigned.
Public sector background with policy knowledge.
Ability to quickly learn web-based databases and systems.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
Proficient in current versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Preferred background in transportation policy.
Works well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
Bachelor Degree preferred or several years of relevant employment.
