The Senior Communication Specialist reports the Senior Director of Americas PR and Internal Communications. The Senior Communication Specialist will work with local and regional leadership to translate business priorities into an integrated communication strategy.
As a Senior Communication Specialist, you’ll be responsible for driving external communication strategy for your markets, including media relations, social media and internal communications. The Senior Communication Specialist position goes beyond the ability to deliver tactical results—it requires an enhanced level of strategic planning, critical thinking, and creativity in story-telling. Senior Communication Specialists must have strong interview skills and be able to successfully partner with business leaders and the company’s Research team to uncover newsworthy trends and story angles, and succinctly articulate these stories both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences and through multiple communications channels, including social media, in an integrated fashion.
Senior Communication Specialists must be capable of formulating strategic messaging and talking points, developing and executing integrated communications plans in support of key business initiatives, and counseling internal clients on the most advantageous approach to meeting their communications goals. Senior Communications Specialists are able to perform their responsibilities with limited supervision, while maintaining in the highest levels of quality control and adhering to all deadlines (especially media deadlines). A Sr. Communication Specialist should have no less than four years of PR/Communications experience in a business environment.
Execute a measurable PR strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals
Create opportunities for thought leadership across traditional and non-traditional media
Foster strong and lasting relationships with relevant local media, and maintain ongoing dialogue that leads to opportunities for the organization
Actively engage with professionals and leadership to demonstrate the value of the media as a tool that supports their business
Manage internal and external media to effectively coordinate communication between the two
Remain up to date on all aspects of the industry
Write and distribute press releases and thought leadership pieces across a variety of topics
Work with national counterparts internally to execute the company’s goals on a local level
Incorporate social media into business plan and work with professionals to train and assist in social media posting
Own content sharing on the local market Twitter account
Publish press releases on the local website
Strong technical and creative writing and communication skills. Able to facilitate relationships and communication with brokers, leadership, across departments, as well as with media and vendors.
Social Media Savvy. Ability to strategically incorporate social media as a key component of a communications plan. Also able to advise and train internal clients on how to use social media to advance their business goals.
Collaborative attitude. Adept at building internal relationships/dialogue to facilitate process. Able to serve several audiences while remaining committed to generating the right result.
Can think strategically and be proactive with ideas/opportunities. Able to comprehend, analyze and interpret market information and situations to create actionable ideas that positively impact the organization and its professionals.
