Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.
Position Summary:
Will provide support in managing public relations activities related to the locations where the organization has major presence. This position also provides press liaison support for YKHC.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Associates (two-year) degree required, BA or BS preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, journalism or public relations with project leader responsibility. Two years of supervisory experience highly preferred.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Should have thorough understanding of healthcare as well as the culture and needs of the Tribes in the YK Delta region. Excellent facilitation skills. Positive image and demonstrated effective working relationships with local and statewide media representatives. Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external customers. Ability to acquire and effectively utilize a comprehensive knowledge of YKHC services and mission, vision and values in order to provide appropriate communications guidance within the corporation. Strong written and oral presentation skills essential in order to develop and write manage corporate communications. Graphic design and multimedia experience preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Two years minimum.
