Job Description:

St. Joseph’s College New York is an independent, coeducational liberal arts college with campuses in Brooklyn and in Patchogue, Long Island.

This position opening is for the Brooklyn Campus.

The Brooklyn Campus serves approximately 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students from its urban location in three blocks of the dynamic Clinton Hill neighborhood.

Duties and Goals:

The Assistant Director of Development is a member of the College Institutional Advancement team and reports to the Sr. Director of Development. This position will be based in Brooklyn and will help the team to achieve fundraising goals.

· Work with Sr. Director of Development to establish a leadership giving program in recognition of the St. Joseph’s centennial – including giving levels, communication strategy and recognition events.

· Craft messaging for email and mail communication for leadership giving including centennial messaging.

· Ensure all leadership level and scholarship donors receive annual consistent accounting of their impact of their gift to St. Joseph’s College.

· Conduct 130 significant moves with alumni and donors per year including 8 face to face visits per month.

· Prepare and submit 10 gift proposals, with an expected close rate of 50%.

· Responsible for donor stewardship including stewardship events, donor reports, donor communication and donor recognition.

· Document progress and track monthly goals through Raiser’s Edge.

· Work with Sr. Director of Development and Long Island Annual Fund Manager to create and execute a strategic plan for an employee giving program (Brooklyn Campus) including employee engagement, communication and kickoff event,

· Act as the Brooklyn campus liaison to coordinate the Annual Fund with the Annual Fund Manager located in Patchogue.

· Lead the efforts for the Senior Class gift, by engaging various student groups including student government, Greek life and athletics.

· Create and implement a Sr. Class Gift campaign plan including communications, outreach and incorporating class giving in to existing campus events.

· Stay aware of projects, high-level initiatives and emerging issues and trends with development staff members in other institutions of higher education, implementing ideas where improvements can be made.

· Utilize the Office of Institutional Advancement’s database and research team for tracking donors and potential donors, regularly checking for potential donor prospects. Ensure contact information is properly documented, along with notes and/or news on donors.

· Work with the Alumni and Advancement teams to learn and implement best cross-platform practices for donor acquisition and retention, leveraging cross-campus opportunities for alumni engagement.

· Attend Annual Fund, Reunion and Centennial events to encourage giving.

Qualifications and Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree required

· Work requires 2 years’ experience in fundraising, public relations, non-profit or other related field.

· Demonstrated ability to meet financial goals for a development program.

· Demonstrated success in working effectively and positively with donors, alumni and volunteers.

· Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, to multi-task and work successfully with a high degree of attention to detail and to work independently with discipline and integrity.

· Evidence of superior interpersonal communications and presentations skills with the ability to represent the College’s mission and interests to a diverse group of people.

· Excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to listen is essential.

· Strong attention to detail and strong project management skills.

· Weekend and evening responsibilities.
