Microsoft is looking for an experienced, highly motivated Program Manager to support our Microsoft Consulting Services Organization. This individual will join our Delivery Excellence Services (DES) group in the Business Excellence and Operations (BEO) organization as the Sr. Program Manager – Communications, Risk and Agile Role Capability and Maturity . They will lead delivery management role capability and maturity for Agile delivery (specific to project management), communications and risk management within delivery teams.

We are looking for a Program Manager – Communications, Risk and Agile Role Capability and Maturity who can outline and execute the vision for how we achieve leading edge delivery success by ensuring we have the right delivery teams in place through capacity planning, appropriate capability in our delivery teams and implementing service offerings to support the communication, risk and agile function of our delivery governance teams. The successful individual wants an opportunity to impact how our delivery teams execute project manager Agile delivery functions, communications, and risk management successfully. Someone who has demonstrated customer obsession and the ability to create clarity in highly ambiguous situations would be a great fit for this team. As the leader of this function, you would create consensus across Microsoft Consulting Services that ensures we have an optimal plan for our objective of being the best delivery governance management experience in the world.

Demonstrate expertise in communications management, risk management and Agile delivery process & systems needed to deliver Microsoft Consulting Services work successfully to our customer outcomes.

Design and deliver a compelling multi-year strategic plan which elevates delivery communications management, risk management and Agile delivery role maturity thus ensuring our customer outcomes are successfully met on all engagements while balancing costs, improving the customer experience, and driving additional future work.

Provide leadership and direction to orchestrate your communications management, risk management and Agile delivery role maturity plans through annual capability uplifts while recommending and driving tooling and process changes to improve our delivery experience.

Capacity

Ensure a predictable and scalable delivery governance estimation model that supports our leading-edge delivery principles, including staffing mix recommendations for delivery teams is sized appropriately to include communications management, risk management and Agile delivery governance in all sold work.

Ensure our annual capacity planning models have the proper capacity level (right place, right time, right capability) of delivery management communications, risk and Agile delivery personnel to support our sold work.

Based on performance of delivery governance communications, risk and Agile capacity , derive insights, recommend changes and drive improvements when needed.

Support our bootstrap services execution as the MCS Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for Communications, Risk and Agile project management.

Lead the growth of the Project Management as a Service team into a Center of Excellence (CoE) for delivery management communications management, risk management and Agile delivery.

Capability

Articulate and deliver a compelling vision to improve delivery communications management, risk management and Agile delivery.

Develop consensus across BEO, Worldwide Learning, Delivery Domains, and Area (where appropriate) to ensure capability trainings support your vision.

In conjunction with other DMCC SMEs, develop and execute a holistic capability and maturity plan for MCS Delivery Management teams.

Own and drive the design, adoption and execution of a delivery management role capability and maturity plan that ensures our communications management, risk management and Agile delivery function capability, specifically for project managers, is sufficient to deliver successful customer outcomes.

Ensure onboarding programs are in place and continually relevant to successfully train delivery management teams in communications management, risk management and Agile delivery.

Develop and deliver annual communications management, risk management and Agile delivery upskilling programs for our delivery management teams.

In conjunction with other DMCC SMEs, design and deliver semi-annual training events targeting our delivery management teams.

Community

Deliver a best in class and evolving WW Delivery Management set of subcommunities focused on the delivery governance: communications management, risk management, and Agile delivery experience.

Enable community volunteerism by ensuring members are aware of opportunities to help improve our ecosystem through BEO sponsored initiatives.

Lead a community which grows capability of its members through grass roots improvement initiatives, peer led learning and industry insights.

Requirements:

A proven track record of consultative project management leadership on a global scale and specifically as it relates to communications management, risk management and Agile delivery throughout delivery.

A proven track record of supporting a consulting organization’s communications management, risk management and Agile delivery.

Success Criteria:

Develop forward looking strategic Project and Program delivery Agile capability, communications and risk management role maturity plans aligned to business needs.

Execute your role maturity plans for Agile, communications and risk management capability role maturity plans.

Build Delivery Team capability in Agile methodologies, communications, and risk management.

Successfully lead the Agile methodologies, communications, and risk management coaching function for Bootstrap Project Execution Services and ensure sufficient capacity is in place to support in-scope delivery

Represent the function of Agile delivery, communications, and risk management, specific to project managers, to tooling, field experience, and other related teams to ensure all process and tooling design supports the best experience possible for functional owners of delivery management Agile delivery.

Specific to project managers, develop our Project Management as a Service (PjMaaS) team as an Agile delivery, communications, and risk management Center of Excellence supporting our field delivery teams.

Ensure that delivery management governance estimation is sized appropriately to ensure successful Agile delivery, communications, and risk management as it relates to the project manager role during delivery.

Partner with our Consulting Method and Maturity (CMM) team to ensure alignment of tooling, process, and role maturity plans support an ecosystem of streamlined delivery management with proactive course correction.

Build and manage WW Communities focused on improving the experience during delivery for: Agile, communications management, and risk management.

Ensure your WW Communities (Agile, communications, and risk management) participates in process and tooling improvement activities as necessary while providing opportunities for members to grow.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Leading People and Developing Cultures: Passionate about improving the delivery governance experience and building a culture centered on accountability and empathy. Focus areas are communication management, risk management and Agile delivery governance.

5 years of experience in Consulting, Program Design, Strategic Planning/Execution, and/or Change Management. 10 years preferred

5 years of Project/Program Management, communications management, risk management

5 years of Project/Program Management, Agile delivery

Bachelor’s degree in communications, project management, business, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree in communications, business, project management or related field preferred.

Delivering customer value via programs & operations: A proven leader that thrives in complexity, works across a diverse group of stakeholders to deliver results.

Professional Project/Program Management Accreditation. Project Management Professional (PMP) accreditation preferred.

Agile accreditation preferred.

Change Management experience: Certified in Prosci or other recognized change management methodology preferred.

Communicating with clarity: Demonstrated experience communicating complex, ongoing business data to many stakeholders and executives to drive clarity and always-on insights.

Creating alignment across organizations: Experienced working across different disciplines and organizations in a consulting organization to ensure alignment to shared goals.

Delivery Management: Strategic thinking and awareness of market direction, specifically:

Delivery management risk management, communications management, and Agile delivery management role maturity with the proven capability to lead a successful role maturity strategy.

Knowledge and application of systems models and scientific data analysis preferred

Ability to structure complex problems, articulate business pain points, and think creatively and critically of systemic solutions preferred.

5 years working in a strategic design team preferred.

Expert in risk management systems, practices and bodies of knowledge preferred

Expert in Agile as a delivery modality preferred.

Industry leader in communications management (influence, stakeholder management, negotiation, etc.) preferred.

Location/Travel

Americas or EMEA based. Travel can be expected to be approximately 25% (including international). No travel required during COVID remote work period.
