Reports to:

Sr. VP Sales and Distribution Accor Sales North America, Central America and Caribbean

Location: Miami

Size and Scope of role:

This role is responsible for the Accor North America &Caribbean external reputation within the media, enhancing the Accor´s profile through regular external interaction, and is responsible to assure an optimal level of communications. Although it has limited budget responsibility, it influences the company´s reputation and the external credibility. The position is based in Miami and reports to the Senior Vice-President Sales & Distribution Accor Sales, North America, Central America & Caribbean with dotted line to the Communications Director Americas &Caribbean.

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to develop and oversee an international external and internal communications strategy for Accor North America &Caribbean and to drive that strategy forward. To act as a center of excellence for media relations and stakeholder communications for Accor, across all offices.

Corporate communications and crisis management

 To take lead in strategic communications planning/campaign management, including the development of thought leadership PR

 To define a strategic PR plan for the Sofitel/Novotel brands in our region

 To work with senior management to help them develop and communicate key messages and to assist them in raising the Accor’s reputation

 To develop and execute a clear internal communications strategy

 To identify reputational risks and the ways they can be mitigated, working closely with senior management in crisis management

Media relations

 To develop a media relations plan to support and reinforce the Accor´s strategic objectives, sector strategy and brands

 To develop key relationships with editors and journalists in the trade press to assist with coverage and article placement

 To advise partners/associates/marketing representatives throughout the international network on how to strengthen the Accor’s reputation worldwide through media relations

 To coach and advise how to work with the media and journalists

 To provide support and guidance to offices that have PR agencies on how to get the best from those agencies

 To maintain the news pages of the Accor PR website, ensuring content is regularly updated

Internal communications

 To develop the internal communications strategy and key processes

 To oversee the internal communications 'channels', ensuring their effectiveness and appropriate usage, recommending changes as needed and ensuring the right messages are communicated using the right channels

 To advise all business services areas on communicating key messages internally

Directories and awards

 To manage our relationships with the key directories and to communicate with international practice group heads on submission and interview timings

 To notify and provide guidance to sectors, international practice groups, offices and business services teams on key awards, maximizing both the number of award categories entered and the quality of advertising and events

Key relationships

 Daily contact with press and media journalists and be able to act as the spokesperson

 Regular contact with senior management, practice group heads, sector heads, business services heads on a range of reputation and profile areas

 Regular contact with PR agencies to ensure smooth running of the firm’s relationship with them and ensure consistent message and to maximize coverage

 Daily contact with global and regional marketing, business development and communications team

Advertising and Events

 To advise on advertising and sponsorship opportunities, as well as manage events.

 To coach the hotel teams and Local PR for PR events.

Skills/Qualifications:

Personal qualifications

• Able to effectively manage a diverse, international and inclusive team

• Able to develop professional relationships and build business through diverse networks.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

• PR/media relations experience preferably in a professional services environment, with experience at a senior level

• Demonstrable experience in crisis management, PR strategy and internal communications

• MBA desirable

• Fluent in English and Spanish – desirable French

• Advanced communications skills

• Project management skills
