The Technical Writer roles create and maintain additional files, reports, and ad hoc documentation per the needs of OptumRx business. This position involves close collaboration with teams and associates throughout OptumRx to ensure that documentation solutions are accurate, comprehensive, and applicable to the needs of the business. This team produces high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products in a rapidly changing environment. Primary Responsibilities:For each quarterly product release, reviews and researches product changes to determine the impact on the user, and then translates these changes into the user documentationPlans work effort to meet product release datesUses Help authoring software and other applicable tools to create content for Online Help for the OptumRx applicationsTranslates technical information into clear, easy to understand language as applicable to ensure readability for both technical and non-technical usersPeriodically audits and reviews documentation to determine whether format or content changes are required. Meets with subject matter experts and other business contacts as necessary to determine the nature of any content changesCreates and maintains file layouts and reports for each software releaseWork assignments may be independent, and/or in support of senior level technical writers Required Qualifications:Master’s Degree in English, communications, technical writing, publications or a related field and/or Bachelor’s with 10 years’ experience working on major systems5 or more years of technical writing experienceAbility to research and gather information and to explain and document complex processes in layperson’s terms to ensure maximum knowledge transfer and understandingAbility to follow and apply an established writing style guideAdvanced understanding of content management and information designAdvanced understanding of technical writing methodologiesWorking knowledge and application of styles and industry practicesFamiliar with using templates to create topics and documentsDetail-oriented, with excellent written and oral communication skillsBasic editing, and proofing skills5 or more years of experience using Adobe RoboHelp experienceProficiency in MS Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, and online Help authoring tool (RoboHelp)Organizational and time management skills in order to meet deliverables in a deadline-driven environmentAbility to interact with subject matter experts and other business resources and to develop constructive and cooperative relationships with these individuals.Preferred Qualifications:5 or more years of experience creating and generating online Help using authoring softwareCareers with Optum.
