Manager, Pr, Executive, Marketing
is looking for a Director of Public Relations o lead media relations efforts for its Fitness & Wellness Group (FWG), including Well Good and Livestrong.com.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who’s strategic, but also willing to roll up their sleeves. Together with the heads of brand you will craft the comms strategy for the FWG brands.
You will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day communications efforts for our media brands, with a focus on the ad industry trade press, wellness trade press, and also B2C comms.

You'll report to
: SVP, Creative & Strategy
A typical schedule as a Director of Public Relations would include:
Create and implement a compelling media relations strategy for the Well Good and Livestrong media brands;
Work closely with the SVPs of the Fitness & Wellness Group on day-to-day public relations efforts for the Well Good and Livestrong brands;
Manage relationships with a variety of media including ad trade industry, tech, fitness, health, wellness, lifestyle, etc.,across all media types including digital and traditional;
Work closely with sales, marketing, product development and editorial teams to develop and implement a strategic PR plan to complement marketing programs, campaigns, editorial features, etc.;
Manage and attend media related events, including working with the Leaf Group sales team on developing a regular industry mixer program;
Draft and edit pitches, press releases and by-line articles at a high standard consistent with company messaging and editorial guidelines;
Monitor relevant industry and trade publications, competitive news landscape, etc.; and
Assist with organization of press briefings, media training, photography, and press attendance at company events.
You'll be successful if you are highly proactive, have a thick rolodex of contacts and have a passion for growing the footprint and exposure for strong health and lifestyle brands.
What You Have:
Demonstrated success in implementing large-scale media campaigns;
Deep relationships with ad and media industry trade outlets;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Ability to work collaboratively with other team members;
Self-starter – ability to work independently to accomplish tasks in a creative, decisive, and responsive manner; take responsibility of projects and outcomes;
Demonstrated competence in managing multiple priorities and projects on tight deadlines while maintaining top quality deliverables;
Demonstrated success in securing media coverage in a variety of outlet types;
Demonstrated track record of developing successful working relationships with reporters and marketers;
Ability to craft messages based on the desired goal of the communication and tailor to specific audiences;
Copywriting and editing experience;
Critical thinking and attention to detail; and
6 years of experience in public relations and marketing communications, experience pitching media brands is critical.
