This position involves leading the Consumer Brand PR team responsible for overseeing communication strategies and campaigns for the portfolio of more than 10 US retail brands at Tyson Foods. The role partners with brand marketing and marketing services to develop integrated marketing strategies to drive brand objectives, specifically leading earned media and influencer strategy and campaign execution as part of the paid, owned and earned ecosystem.
The role requires creativity and leadership –inspiring an agency team in the development of earned-first programs that ignite consumer engagement and drive media coverage. The role requires the ability to confidently educate marketing on the role of earned media, helping the brands take smart and educated risks to develop breakthrough campaigns that connect with consumer audiences.
The Consumer PR lead needs to embrace continuous learning -as consumers change and communication platforms arise, the PR lead needs to stay connected to help build communications plans that meet people where they are.
It requires a self-starter mindset with an ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines within the organization, including marketing, procurement, legal, consumer affairs, regulatory and nutrition and sales.
Strong writing and editing skills are critical to the role as is moving with a sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task across brands.
While focus is on external communications to drive brand awareness and relevance with consumers, a percentage of time is spent on internal communications supporting brand initiatives and driving team member engagement.
Other duties include:
Oversee national consumer media relations programs and influencer programs;
Develop and review high quality & creative written materials, including messaging, recommendations and planning documents;
Review/assess industry trends to identify opportunities;
Manage and mentor other team members towards personal and professional growth .
Requirements:EDUCATION: Requires BA in communications, public relations, journalism or related fieldEXPERIENCE: At least 10 years of communications, media or public relations experienceCOMPUTER SKILLS: Requires basic computer skills. For example, generating simple letters, spreadsheets; requires knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong grammatical aptitude and skilled editing ability; experience in working with media and developing and executing effective media strategies
