THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POLICE PUBLIC INFORMATION SPECIALIST IS TO ENSURE TRANSPARENCY AND MAINTAIN A POSITIVE PUBLIC IMAGE FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
DUTIES
INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
SPOKESPERSON FOR THE JACKSONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
MAY BE REQUIRED TO RESPOND TO MAJOR INCIDENTS 24/7
COMPILE IMPORTANT RESOURCES AND INFORMATION DURING AND AFTER EMERGENCIES FOR THE COMMUNITY.
MANAGE AND MONITOR JACKSONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT AND PUBLIC INTERACTIONS.
COMMUNICATE WITH MEDIA OUTLETS.
ORGANIZE COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENTS TO ENHANCE POLICE/PUBLIC RELATIONS.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
EQUIVALENT OF FOUR YEARS IN HIGH SCHOOL, PLUS NIGHT, TRADE EXTENSION, OR CORRESPONDENCE SCHOOL SPECIALIZED TRAINING, EQUAL TO TWO YEARS OF COLLEGE, PLUS TWO YEARS RELATED EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING. EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC RELATIONS/COMMUNICATIONS IS PREFERRED.
