Visit Orlando is now recruiting for a full-time Public Relations Associate Representative – International.  The Public Relations Associate Representative will partner with and provide support to the entire Global Communications department with a focus on the International Media Managers to help position Orlando as a leading destination to audiences including media, consumers and influencers.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1. Provides journalist assistance for International markets working closely with the PR Managers. Activities include media outlet/social channel research to determine level of assistance, story angle assistance, development of materials and photography and b-roll requests.
  2. Generates media interest in Visit Orlando programs and events to increase editorial coverage of Orlando, Visit Orlando and its members.
  3. Coordinates and executes group and individual press trips and journalist itineraries for traditional media, as well as influencers.
  4. Assists in PR plan development and execution for Visit Orlando programs and events.
  5. Drafts and/or edits press materials, pitches and other written communications as assigned in English and Spanish or Portuguese.
  6. Liaises with external Visit Orlando members to gather ongoing information pertinent to publicizing the destination including press information, photography and b-roll video, as well as following up with media coverage updates after press trips.
  7. Coordinates Press Kit and fact sheet development including liaising with agency partners for translations, updating content as needed and communicating updates to the team.
  8. Coordinates annual Media Passbook program, including soliciting members for offers, proofreading and editing content regarding offers, working with internal departments for production of materials and issuing Passbooks to journalists. Informs members about any issues a journalist may experience when using the program.
  9. Uses SalesForce to handle media requests, send leads to members, update media database and record case notes for media assistance.
  10. Identifies and keeps the department apprised of industry and member news and trends.
  11. Contributes to the development of social media content (Facebook, Twitter and Visit Orlando blog) and assists with media website updates.
  12. Assists in preparation of department reports and presentations as needed.
  13. Assists in the development and maintenance of media target lists.
  14. Works with cross-functional work teams as assigned.
  15. Assists in the implementation of programs and plans to support Visit Orlando’s marketing and membership goals, as needed.
  16. Ensures protection of the Orlando and Visit Orlando brand.  Serves as a Brand Ambassador.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and 2 years related experience, internships and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ideal candidate is an excellent communicator (verbal and written) with strong organizational skills and a drive to meet deadlines; possesses a pleasant demeanor and enjoys being part of a team; and is interested in entering communications and pursuing it as a career path.  Spanish or Portuguese proficiency required.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Intermediate skill level with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access or other database system. CMS experience is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
