Publicity Jobs description

The person in charge of publicity at a company is typically called a publicist. The responsibilities of a publicist include publicizing the given company's products/services to the target audience. Publicists also develop and maintain strong relationships with the community, fellow employees, consumers, and the media. A publicist also assists the company’s advertising agency in preparing promotional campaigns aimed at establishing a good corporate image.

The publicist is involved in pitching new projects and executing existing projects. This entails research and development, drafting press releases and posting them regularly, maintaining website content, and designing brochures, flyers, and the like. The publicist works in conjunction with the marketing team to create and implement new marketing and promotional policies. In general, the publicist acts as a liaison between the company and the media.

A degree in journalism or equivalent work experience in a related field is required for the typical publicist position. A publicist should also be an extrovert with excellent communication skills. Priority will generally be given to those candidates who are very good at writing and presenting new ideas. A publicist should also be proficient with computers.
