Our Global Communications organization is responsible for protecting and elevating Hilton's reputation, driving brand and consumer communications, inspiring and engaging Team Members, and connecting owners and other partners with Hilton’s purpose and business goals.

What will I be doing?

The Director of Americas Communications will be responsible for implementing the regional strategy that strives to protect and enhance Hilton’s reputation and that of its Americas estate; drive storylines that reinforce Hilton’s commitment to growth and position Hilton as an industry leader, with a particular focus on the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), and Canada; and engage in proactive storytelling and media relations while serving as a connecting point between the enterprise, region and Hilton-managed hotels in the Americas!

More specifically, you will:

Independently develop and implement activities that support the Americas Communications strategy and objectives, with an emphasis on showcasing Hilton’s managed hotels in CALA and Canada via earned and owned media.

Lead activities to drive consistent storytelling that reinforces our commitment to growth. This includes supervising CALA and Canada development PR activities from deal signings for franchised and managed properties, to hotel pre-opening and opening activities for managed hotels across the region.

Drive hotel and regional storytelling that supports Hilton’s position as a leader in workplace culture and innovation.

Collaborate in the creation and implementation of the Americas editorial calendar to support proactive storytelling that features Americas-managed hotels.

Identify and strategically manage credible media relationships in CALA and Canada, and maintain an updated media list.

Support others on the Global Communications team by providing regional insight when developing strategies focused on reaching media in the CALA and Canadian markets.

Lead crisis and issues communications across the Americas hotel estate.

Serve as a trusted advisor on external communications to senior Hilton executives and be a communications liaison to internal business partners across the CALA region and Canada.

Act as a consultant and main point of contact for hotel-level communications needs in the region, helping to ensure hotel messaging aligns with Hilton’s broader enterprise strategy and that Hilton enterprise stories can be brought to life at hotels.

Maintain and foster relationship with hotel-level marketing and PR teams in the pertinent region to keep a steady pulse on hotel happenings and facilitate the discovery of hotel storytelling opportunities.

Travel across the Americas region and participate in pertinent events across the region, including but not limited to marquee openings, team meetings, media events, and conferences.

What are we looking for?

The success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:

Excellent presentation, public speaking, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present information, drive dialogue and respond to difficult scenarios across the organization.

Ability to resolve significant risks and issues and implement lessons learned.

Ability to work with and engage other members across the team to deliver on cross-functional objectives.

Display absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

Ability to be accessible during non-traditional hours if needed.

Deep knowledge of the U.S., Canada, and CALA media landscape.

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

Ten (10) years of Communications experience

Bilingual/Fluent in English and Spanish (including business proficiency and writing)

Experience collaborating across multiple teams and countries

Experience creating, implementing, and measuring communications strategies

Experience advising senior executives and overseeing a company response to sensitive topics, including crisis communications and issues management

Travel as needed, typically 35-40% of the time

It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

BA/BS Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree, preferably in communications, public relations, or a related field

Large global organization and/or a top-tier communications agency experience

Hospitality industry experience

Fluent in Portuguese
